City to halt...

After a long holidays and weekend, the IT capital of the India was coming to it own for what it is so famous, but suddenly came to halt due to a bandh. The Bandh was called by the Kannada organizations in the protest against the centre for showing the step motherly behaviour towards the state over the border dispute with his neighboring state. the Bandh was supported by the rulling government party.
i was hearing this for the first time and was amazed that ruling partie is supporting the bandh. I was of the view that they have to take action against these things but they are supporting it. If you think that centre is not being neutral then you should have a talk to them instead you are stopping your own pepole from making progress. For pepole like us who have to take food out, but there was nothing open and it was a day of problem. the people had no source of entertainment as cable operator were only showing the kannada channels in the support of the cause. it was succeesful but i was left with a question that how does it affect the centre or other state involved in this. the problem and the lost incurred in the bandh was totally of the state and the peoples of the state. i wish the oraganizers of this bandh can analyze this. The newspapers reported the next day as complete and the day when the Bangalore city was back to the 70's when there was no pollution, traffic and the crowd. was that the purpose of the bandh? to give the city a break then they have certainly succeded. if the purpose was other than that then i fear that has been not met.
I have heard of the border dispute between the countries, but this time the fight is between the states of the country. INDO-SINO or INDO-PAK border issues willbe easier to solve then solving this issues, because both are your own and somebody in the end will be disappointed from the result. The issue could have been solved decades ago if the parties and the centre would have shown the resolve to solve the problem and this issue would not have become so big. There is so much talk of the Mahajan comitee report, but why do we take so much of time to implement the recommendation of such commitee. if these recommendations are not supposed to be implemnted then why do we constitute the commitee. There is trouble over the finding of commitee and then we constitute another commitee to find the validatity of the first commitee. this way the time keeps ticking away and the issue remains alive. The issue which could have been solved and not resulted in such a big problem and cause of hatered between the fellow countrymen if the action would have been taken at the appropiate time.
the findings of the MAHAJAN COMMITEE can be found at: http://www.flonnet.com/fl2225/stories/20051216008012500.htm

My Friend.
It was nice reading your blog of City coming to a halt. But it seems, you dint have the sufficient information when it comes to supporting the Bandh. The Govt. never supported the bandh in open. Mind you, there was no official notification that Govt. offices would be closed. Instead, the Govt. officials were asked to take a day leave. Its true that this is Supporting the bandh only but what can the govt. do. It cant risk away the lives of the people.
Its not our Bihar. These people have bandh once in a while unlike at our place. And bandh here is worse than a Curfew at our place. (I can see your head nodding for this :D).
All of us had some problems facing this bandh. But then think of the other repercussions of this bandh. As you said, we got fresh air for one day. We got an extended weekend (ok.. we did compensate).
It was sad that only Kannada Channels were aired on Cable. I am of the opinion that even we should organise one-day bandh in Bangalore because of the Step Motherly behaviour being given to the National Language here. But alas, the govt officials wont go on leave or the IT companies wont shut down nor we will get the fresh air.
As of solving the Indo Pak and Indo Sino Borders, if we look at a broader perspective of the world being one place rather than made of small countries, (remember VASHUDHEV KUTUMBAKKAM ) we will be facing the same problem. Appease one and annoy other. The problems would always stay and the only solution to them is how long can you keep them off the track to let other important matters come up for discussion.
As you said, the problems wont have arisen in the first place had the things been dealt properly in past, doesnt it apply to even the border disputes India is involved in with pak or China.
Had Mahatama Gandhi not taken birth or had India not been partitioned, we wont have had LOC today. We wont have an issue of J & K and pakistan terrorism everytime Manmohan Singh meets president of other country. The bottom line is that "You cant change what has happened, but you can certainly affect what is going to happen".

P.S. I wish to see your comments as well as the comments of our other friends below this.

@your friend: How can they not do anything? Its about risk of life, but then government is there for its security. ITs their job to make everything peaceful.
You can not compare it with bihar. The problems there are very different from here.
Wasn't the government supporting the bandh by ignoring it? They surely chose the midway.

My dear friend,
regarding the question about my awareness is there, i am fully aware. Our Cm only responded at the day before the bandh i think that was too late and if you are aware and can turn back the pages of the news paper then you will find that JD(s) the ruling party member supported the bandh and they even took the name of govt. in supporting that.
regarding about our BIHAR, u r comparing the two very diff things. are they anyhow similar. the ground realities are totally diff. you should comapre the things which are totally diff. the comparison should be between the two things which have little difference. By the way i am not happy due to bandh in my state, i am oppose all kinds of bandh they are always problemtic to the people.
Dont be so philosphical about the world being a small place. the problem between the INDO-PAK and INDO-SINO are at the other level all together. there two different countries are involved with two diff. culture and the people have a diff. view point. we will always have a wiew point supporting our country. i cant oppose my country even if i find there is some prob. in case of INDO-PAK and INDO-SINO.
My point that this problem would have not arisen if we have acted quickly does apply to the se cases also, but think that you are only one side in this and other side can pull at any time. we cant do anything. In the case of relating our state, both part is ours. they do have a difference between them but still they are the part of the country and you can always bring them to talking term if there is a will. here the people and the center has some power.
i would like to see your comments or queries on my point. please if you have any post it here. i would be glad to discuss my point of view and know the views of others.
