Great Weekend

I really had a long extended and great weekend this week.

Friday:
As the last week there is lots of holidays (taking 4 days leave makes it 10 days) so the company decided to have a New Year celebration in 15 days advance.

The party was in the Zero g, the pub and discotheque on the residency road. Though the party was really good and everyone enjoyed but every one felt that there was no try to make it as a party for the occasion. But the point is that we enjoyed the occasion. When we entered there was only beer for the drinks and it really disappointed some of the people. As the time went by there was lot of changed.

I think for the lot of people goes to company party to booze and they are true to their goals and people drink like they did not had anything for years and they are so thirsty. On the dance floor there was totally different scenes. On one side some girls were dancing elegantly and the boys were jumping and there was total chaos out there. You can get hit if you are not careful. My senior offered a drink and after the drink and dance was over, we were sitting near the pool and enjoying the talk. I think these talks increase the team trust and help the company and the moments are really enjoyable for the rest of the life.

Saturday:

I was too tired and got up very late. I was supposed to go and play Cricket with the company colleagues but I was sleeping. We had a lunch directly and decided to go for the movie. Our friend booked the ticket for the KABUL express. Me and PJ went early as he had some shopping to do and after the movie we had a great dinner at the GUFHA in Jayanagar.

One of the friends from the IIM and Vivek stayed at home and we were chatting late in the night. The discussion was for the trip to the Nandi hills in the morning. The time getting discussed was the 5.30 AM and 6.00 in the morning. We looked at the watch and it was already 1.30. we went to bed with the plan to go to the hills early morning.

It's not over here and the fun continues..

An Indian Safari

I am not going to talk about the great economic progress India has made in the last decade or the IT industry. This is all about the victory India had over the South Africa in 1st test in Johannesburg. The news sounds even sweeter when it has come after such a long time. It took 14 years and 5th African Safari to register our first win. With this win India now has won a test match in all the test playing nations.

The African safari has not been too good this season and Indian team suffered humiliating 4-0 defeat in the one-dayers. There was no such hope that India can clinch this one. The disappointment in the India can be easily seen as there was hardly anyone talking about and there was no enthusiasm in the general public except the electronic media which was engaged in doing the post-mortem. The bad performance can be seen on the T.V. as there was hardly any commercial on the screen in which the players are endorsing the product. I think that company sensed the anger of the general public and refrained themselves from showing them.

So what has brought such a spirited performance? There were few changes for the good. Great comeback by the Sourav Ganguly and Zaheer khan proved his mantle as the fast bowler. There was aggression in the side, hunger to win was clearly visible. The Sreesanth performance deserved Man of the Match award. He brought the exuberance in the team that will help the team in the longer run. He bowled with a great heart, lively pace and impeccable line and length. The little cameo performance of the dance(he is boogie-woogie winner)must have erred south africans but these little things give everyone the confidence to do what they want.

I think that comeback by the Ganguly will be model for the others to follow. If he can get such a treatment there are others player who are playing worse then him at the time he was dropped. I think this will put them under pressure to perform and the true performer will succeed. We should not forget the Laxman, who has played many match winning innings before in the past and here too it was his inning that gave India commanding position in the match. The partnership of Zaheer and Laxman was so crucial and it was amazing to see the application from the Zaheer. The other batsmen who are not doing that great can take a cue from his performance.

It was a great team effort barring few people which always be the case. The days ahead will be much better if the others too join the party and that could really bring the hope back for the world cup next year.

Those who missed the dance performance. the video is available on the youtube.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DKHSKHjsTU&eurl=

Sidhuism

The real character gets tested at the time when you are in some problem and the true champions comes out with flying colours. I am talking about Mr. Navjot singh Sidhu (former cricketer, commentator and the comedian). Till recently he was member of parliament and now he is a murder convict.
He played for India and was famous for his aggressive batting especially against the spinners and hitting those big sixes. He never used his proverbs in the match winning ceremonies. After retirement he bacame the commentator and soon beacame famous for his proverbs. but as always happens he was losing this because as in mine and most of the other opinion he overdid it. He lost his job because of his too big mouth. But his stint as the commentator brought a diiferent angle to the commentry.
the next chapter is even more interesting, he joined politics and become the MP(member of the paliament). i have no idea that what issues did he raised in the house but was always on the news channel discussing some thing and pointing the failures of some one using the words so fast that it give you an impression that he has memorised it before the show. Examples and words sounded like they have been picked for the occasion.
I think he shot to the good fame as the man how can laugh at any joke. He became the integral part of the THE GREAT INDIAN COMEDY SHOW. his laughter became so famous that lots of participant starting making fun of that only and only he can laugh on these. The last chapter brings the bad name and its a shame for the country. In span of two days, two members of parliament gets convicted for the murder charges.
But i was stunted to see the reaction of the two person, even though he was convicted and was going to hear the term for the charges he was as usual talking to the press in the same manner as nothing has happened. After hearing a three year term he accepted it and used one of his cliche. You need to have lot of courage to be like what he is. The pepole are supporting him and some section has a view that he should be forgiven. I dont support those people but certainly i have become fan for this courage and talk which i used to hate in the begining.

2 Min in the Air..

Some of the things you do leave such an imprint that you will remember it forever. This Sunday I did something like that. It was for very short duration but gave a thrilling experience and one which I would have loved if it would have been for some more time. I am talking about the parasailing for which we (me with friends) went this Sunday.

I think so many people enjoy this kind of activities but they don’t have the information about such an activity. I consider myself very lucky in this regard as our house has Mr. PJ (Pritesh Jain). I don’t know how he gets the information. I know the source but I don’t know why I am not able to get such information myself.

He (PJ) got this idea very late and we registered for the program on the Saturday night and when I asked him that have we got any replies then his answer was that we have registered very late so we may not get the chance. I was sleeping peacefully on the chilly Sunday morning when he calls and wakes me and says that there was call from careIndia(group that organize the event) and we have to go there. I have to get up and get ready. As the internet was not working at our place we went to our friends place and everyone was excited there too to go. We had a good breakfast there and as usual we were late. We truly understand the meaning of the IST(Indian stretchable time).

I tried to follow the map and we reached to the point from where we can see the event in the field but we did not know the exact path to reach there. After little struggle and a small round we reached there. There we met Mr. Gopi, he tells that our turn will come after 9 peoples. Half an hour later our status was same 9 people.

It was a long wait and while sitting on the ground we were thinking that its cost too much for the 2 min. ride in the air. Slowly the count started to decrease and finally our turn came. One by one we went into the air. I was the last in my group and when I was getting ready, there was some fear to go so high in the air. Finally my turn comes and I am tied to parachute and a long rope in the front that is tied to the jeep. The wind was strong and as soon as the parachute opens I was in the air. All the fear was gone and I wished that I remain here for some time and see everything from the top. It was so cool to be there on such a height. Slowly it started too decent and seeing yourself fall was totally different and then there was feeling that you might crash too hard on the ground. I landed safely and looked back at my friends standing at the other end of the field.

It was two minutes of the fun and excitement when you are in the air and can see the ground from some height, this was like a dream come true and I am looking for the other events.
